A "Funny" New Development

I feel like we have witnessed an incredible phenomenon... Tarik is becoming ticklish! We noticed from the first day she was with us that we could not tickle her. But, over the last two days, she has become ticklish. On a related note, we have noticed that she is beginning to laugh a whole lot more. She has always been extremely playful (maybe more than our other girls were at that age), but she has not been much for laughing... until these recent days.

Lord only knows what all goes into a little child laughing and being ticklish, but whatever it is it is happening to Tarik. That sure seems like a big milestone. It just reminds us that the road "home" is a journey and Tarik is slowly settling into our life.

Sounds like a couple of big steps to me! And good ones!

How sweet!! Pyper was very sick a while back and didn't laugh for a week. When she finally did I nearly cried! I didn't realize how much reassurance and joy her laugh brought to us until we didn't hear it. We are so thankful that Tarik is adjusting well! Thanks for the update.

I just think that it's such a cool blessing that God has held back so many of these obscure milestones for you guys to witness with her... things that you might take for granted if you weren't just getting to know her. I have a feeling that you are going to completely forget all of the things that you "missed out on" in her first 10 months! Laughter makes her a true Dunn girl...

Just wanted to leave you a note and let you know how much we appreciate you sharing your story. My mom is a good friend of "Mimi" and we've been praying and silently following your journey. In the past week we've heard of two other families that are in the process of adopting from Ethiopia. How God works as a still, small whisper in the wind is just amazing to watch. If you don't mind, I'm going to add you to my blog so I can keep up with you more often! My heart is filled with so much joy for you and your family! *Mandy
